We are a small, family run farm in Lovettsville, VA. Pete and Samantha along with our 3 children Peter, Logan and Brynn moved to Lovettsville in 2022 with a dream to build a small farmstead and we hit the ground running!! We wanted to be able to produce our own local meats and produce. In the last 2 1/2 years we have raised chickens, Katahdin lamb and Mangaltisa pork. We continue to put our hearts (and a lot of sweat) into making sure our animals lives are healthy and fulfilled as possible.
We are more than happy to answer any questions and hope you try out some of our products!
Thanks for visiting!
Mangalitsa pigs, often called the "Kobe beef of pork," are a rare heritage breed originating from Hungary. Known for their distinctive curly, wool-like coat, which can be blonde, red, or black, these pigs are prized for their high-quality, marbled meat and rich flavor. Mangalitsas are lard-type pigs, producing creamy, nutrient-rich fat ideal for charcuterie, cooking, and baking. They are hardy, adaptable to various climates, and thrive in pasture-based farming systems, making them a favorite for sustainable and small-scale farming. Their exceptional taste and unique appearance have made them a sought-after breed in gourmet markets.
Katahdin sheep are a hardy, low-maintenance hair sheep breed known for their adaptability and excellent meat quality. Developed in the United States, they are named after Mount Katahdin in Maine. Unlike wool sheep, Katahdin's have a coat of hair that sheds naturally, eliminating the need for shearing. This trait, along with their resistance to parasites and tolerance of various climates, makes them ideal for sustainable and small-scale farming. Katahdin's are prized for their mild-flavored, tender lamb meat and are well-suited to rotational grazing systems. Their docile temperament and efficient foraging abilities make them a favorite among shepherds and farmers alike.
